The Product Answer Sheet
Get your products ready for TikTok's shopping assistant and one-tap checkout: the answers it gives in your name, and the refund that is still yours.
On October 5, 2026, TikTok announced two features that let a shopper ask about a product and buy it without leaving the app:
This isn't TikTok Shop, TikTok's marketplace. It's people buying from your own store.
Is it live for you? Not yet. Both features are in testing with eligible advertisers. TikTok says to ask your TikTok sales rep about eligibility, and it hasn't given a date for everyone or named the countries.
The catch. TikTok says the brand stays the merchant of record: the business on the hook for the sale. Salesforce, one of TikTok's partners, spells it out: you keep the customer's details, you answer their support questions, and you handle the returns. The tap is TikTok's. The sale is still yours.
Everything below also helps shoppers on your own site, so it pays off even if the test goes nowhere.
The assistant answers from what you gave it. A size chart that only lives inside a photo, or a return policy that is three paragraphs of legal text, gives it less to work with.
So take your best sellers, list the ten questions people actually ask, and answer each one in plain words. One sheet per product.
Fit / size: [Runs true to size? Size up or down when?]
What it's made of / what it does: [Plain fact, not a slogan]
Compatibility: [Works with what? Not with what?]
Shipping: [Ships in X to Y business days]
Arrives by: [What a shopper can count on]
Returns: [How many days, in what condition]
Questions 7 to 10: [THE OTHER QUESTIONS YOU GET] Answers: [ ... ]
Is each answer written on the product page in text,
not only inside a photo? [yes / no]
Start where it matters most. A candle gets few questions. Anything with a fit, a size, a compatibility question or a delivery deadline is where the sale is won or lost now.
The shopper didn't read your stock page. They asked a chat box, and it only knows what your catalog says. Salesforce warns that when your TikTok catalog lives apart from your store, stockouts and price mismatches slip through.
The Universal Commerce Protocol, in plain words: a shared set of rules that lets an app talk to your store's checkout. Google launched it in January 2026 with Shopify, Etsy, Wayfair, Target and Walmart, and says the same thing: you remain the merchant of record.
Order tracking may sit inside TikTok, but the complaint comes to you: where's my order, the wrong size, the refund. As TechRepublic put it, faster checkout makes clear delivery and return terms more important, not less. Write your return policy for someone who bought in one tap at eleven at night, short enough for an assistant to repeat.
How: [ONE STEP the customer takes].
Refund: [HOW AND WHEN the money comes back].
Wrong size? [What we do].
Where's my order? [Where to check, who to contact].
Before you sign up for the test, ask your TikTok rep four questions. If nobody can answer the last one yet, that tells you how early this is.
2. What does it cost per order?
3. What customer data do I get?
4. What does the assistant say when my information doesn't have the answer?
